Welding stainless steel doors and windows is like performing surgery on a precision instrument-it requires both strength and a smooth surface. This material has a melting point 20% higher than ordinary steel and a large coefficient of thermal expansion, making it prone to deformation during welding. Therefore, temperature control accuracy and the heat-affected zone (HAZ) are key indicators when selecting a welding machine. For example, while ordinary steel only requires a welding temperature of 1500℃, stainless steel needs around 1650℃. Simultaneously, the temperature within 3mm of the weld must not exceed 300℃; otherwise, the surface passivation film will be damaged, leading to rust.

Mainstream Welding Machine Performance Comparison

  • Argon Arc Welding Machine: The "Golden Partner" for Stainless Steel Doors and Windows. With argon gas protection, the HAZ can be controlled within 2mm, resulting in a silvery-white weld. The disadvantage is that it requires certain skills; beginners are prone to welding through or leaving porosity.
  • Laser Welding Machine: The "Black Technology" for High-End Doors and Windows. Welding speed is 3 times faster than argon arc welding, with a HAZ of only 0.5mm and almost no deformation. However, the equipment price is 5-8 times that of TIG welding, making it suitable for companies engaged in mass production.
  • Manual arc welding: A "jack-of-all-trades" for emergency repairs. The equipment is inexpensive, but it produces a lot of spatter, and the weld is prone to blackening, requiring subsequent grinding. It's more suitable for temporary outdoor work.

Three practical principles for machine selection:

  • Consider thickness: Choose TIG welding for 0.8-2mm thin plates; consider laser welding for plates thicker than 2mm.
  • Consider batch size: Choose TIG welding for daily production below 50 pieces; recommend laser welding for production exceeding 100 pieces.
  • Consider budget: Choose a 2000-5000 yuan TIG welding machine for family workshops; for factories, a laser welding machine investment of 30,000-80,000 yuan is recommended.
